Stingless bees beekeeping in Kwamalasamutu and Tepu

Bees are traditionally hunted in the forest, by having their nest opened without any proper care and all the food harvested. What is left from a nest, it is usually too damaged, leading to the death of the nest. Some species of bees can be placed in wooden boxes – hives – and there theycan live well.

There are two main reasons for having bees in a hive: honey can anytime be harvested and the hives will not be destroyed. In this way more honey can be harvested later and the hives can be split when they are big enough. This way, it is possible to have more hives in the future.
